Our Approach

F22 Labs built Send Later end-to-end as a multi-platform WhatsApp automation product — Chrome extension, Progressive Web App, and a production-grade scheduling API. We followed our proven four-step approach: discovery, design, development, and deployment.

Discovery & Use Case Definition

Identified WhatsApp as the dominant business communication channel in India and emerging markets, with no native scheduling capability

Defined scheduled messaging, follow-up sequences, and group automation as the highest-impact use cases for business users

Mapped distinct user journeys for desktop (Chrome extension) and mobile (PWA) access patterns

Determined the need for a regional freemium model to serve both Indian and international markets affordably

Architecture & System Design

Designed a single shared backend API serving both the Chrome extension and PWA clients

Planned the Redis job queue and cron-based dispatch architecture for time-accurate, reliable message delivery

Designed a credit-based freemium model with per-feature monthly limits and automatic resets

Architected WhatsApp Web integration via CodeChat API to manage multiple simultaneous device instances with caching, webhook restoration, and real-time event handling

Development

Built the Chrome extension with React, TypeScript, and Vite, integrated into WhatsApp Web via injected scripts

Developed the PWA with offline support, installability, iOS authentication, and infinite scroll message management

Implemented the Redis job queue, scheduling engine, retry logic with exponential backoff, and full message status lifecycle

Built sequence automation engine, group keyword watchers, welcome message triggers, and FFmpeg media conversion pipeline

Deployment

Deployed backend on cloud infrastructure using Docker containers managed by PM2 for reliable process management

Provisioned MongoDB for schedules, users, and sequences; Redis for job queues and instance caching; S3/MinIO for media storage
